Stockton Clinic

RotaCare Bay Area Welcomes New Stockton Clinic!

RotaCare San Joaquin (RCSJ) organizing board is excited with RotaCare Bay Area’s (RCBA) decision to expand into the Central Valley with the acceptance of its Stockton-based clinic into the RotaCare family.

Joseph Serra, a retired orthopedic surgeon and a member of the Rotary Club of Stockton, brought together a team 30 months ago to explore opening a clinic based on the RotaCare model in the Bay Area. However, state licensing regulations have blocked efforts to open the clinic in a South Stockton facility dedicated to health care.

RCSJ’s mission is to provide free medical care and health services for the relief and prevention of pain and suffering to any uninsured, underinsured, working poor, or anyone who, for any reason has limited access to medical care in the City of Stockton and San Joaquin County.

There is an estimated 20,000 to 50,000 individuals in San Joaquin County who remain uninsured that could benefit by the opening of a free clinic.

RotaCare Cookies at the Friend-Raiser

On October 20, 2016, RotaCare Stockton Free Medical Clinic held their kickoff fundraiser at the Stockton Golf and Country Club. They called this a “Friend-Raiser” to emphasize their intent to collaborate with the greater Stockton Community to launch this much needed free medical outreach facility.

The event was well attended and raised a significant amount to help launch this ambitious enterprise. Advisory Council Co-Chair Cathy Peterson said “We could not have undertaken this ambitious endeavor without the generous support of RotaCare Bay Area.”

On November 10, 2016, our Stockton Advisory Council Co-Chair Douglass W. Wilhoit, Jr was presented with the prestigious “Helping Hands Award, given by Goodwill Industries of San Joaquin Valley, Inc. This Award recognizes a community member who has shown deep respect for the dignity and value of every individual and their economic participation in society.
