Congrats & Thanks !

RotaCare San Leandro congratulates Shirley Zhao, who will be attending UCSF Medical School in August. Shirley has served as the Clinic Operations Manager at San Leandro for over 2 years since March 2014. During her time at RotaCare San Leandro, she brought many valuable changes, such as implementing the new EHR system and building a relationship with the Every Woman Counts program, which provides free mammograms for our patients. She also used her proficiency in Chinese to connect with many of our patients that had just immigrated from Chinese-speaking countries, making them feel more comfortable at our clinic.

Shirley has also greatly enjoyed being involved in a huge network of patient care services and working closely with other organizations in our community such as the Davis Street Family Resource Center, which has provided various social services and helped our patients enroll for medical insurance, and the San Leandro Hospital, who provides lab work for our patients, just to name a few.

RotaCare has undoubtedly been a significant part of her medical journey, challenging her as a leader and as an advocate for underserved patients. She is excited to continue her involvement in free clinics and community service as she moves to San Francisco. Giving back to the community in a meaningful way has become her passion and is something that she holds very near and dear to her heart. She is excited to come back to RotaCare San Leandro as a medical student to continue learning and serving our community in her journey to becoming a doctor.

We will miss the resourcefulness, passion, and warmth Shirley brought to our clinic, but we look forward to having her back some day!
