RotaCare San Rafael Partners with Local University!

We are most fortunate to have a strong relationship with their Service Learning Program at Dominican University of California.

At the start of every semester there is a wave of excited and motivated students from a variety of disciplines that are willing to come and help us with triage, interpreting and as support staff.  Some of the students receive credit for their time working with RotaCare, but there are also many who don’t.

One of our Dominican volunteers began as an interpreter. As she advanced within the school’s nursing program she was able to add more responsibilities as a RotaCare volunteer as she became qualified to help with triage and then as a nurse. Relationships like this one are invaluable to RotaCare San Rafael as we draw from our community’s resources to help provide quality care to our most vulnerable people.

The San Rafael RotaCare Clinic treats patients with minor illnesses or injuries. Each month specialty clinics are conducted with specialists in dermatology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, psychiatry, and ophthalmology. We operate a Transitional Care Clinic for patients with chronic conditions who meet certain criteria. We also have appointments for consultation with a registered dietician and a diabetes educator. After an initial visit with a RotaCare doctor, referrals will be made to specialists, as appropriate. We do not offer women’s health services.
